Blizzard just announced that Patch 1.0.7 has gone live in the US! Here are some of the key updates…
Get your “Brawl” on
Dueling has been added in Patch 1.0.7 – supporting either 1v1 or a 2v2 free-for-all format. Players who wish to duel need to seek out Nek the Brawler, who can be found in any of the hubs in each of the 4 acts. Nek will port you to the Scorched Chapel where you will be able to slug it out with other players. See this post for more info on dueling in Diablo 3.
Damage received in the new “Brawl” system will be reduced by 30% for ranged classes (Wizards, Demon Hunters & Witch Doctors) & 35% for melee (Barbs and Monks).
There is also a new chat channel devoted to PvP.
Improved Quality of Life Changes
Blizzard has made a couple of tweaks that will help players enjoy the game just a little bit more. Here are a few of the highlights…
Increased Base Pick-Up Radius
This is a welcome change for players that don’t have any boost to pickup radius on their gear, i.e., me. 😉 No more having to step directly on piles of gold in order to pick them up. This will make gameplay a bit less clunky and provide for smoother and quicker leveling. It’s worth noting that this boost is still minor enough (3 yards, up from 1.5) to where it won’t jam you up in terms of swallowing up health globes that you are strategically avoiding. It’s mainly been added to make acquiring gold a little bit smoother.
Vanishing Dye now usable on Legendary items
You’ll now be able to hide those unsightly Legendaries with Vanishing Dye. Color dyes are still not available for use on Legendaries, but that’s coming…just not in this patch.
Nephalem Valor stacks will persist through all Acts
This is to encourage players to farm other Acts besides Act 3.
No more resurrection time penalties
The resurrection timer will no longer increase after repeated deaths.
Increased experience gained for MP1 and higher
The experience bonus has been increased substantially for MP1 and higher. The MP1 experience bonus is now 2.5x what it was (25%, up from 10%), scaling up to over a 3x boost at MP10 (510%, up from 160%).
Monster Power now available for public games
Players can now select their desired Monster Power level from a drop-down when joining public games.
Just how many people are playing Diablo 3 right now?
In Patch 1.0.7 you’ll now be able to see how many players are currently logged on in the Battle.net UI.
Monk & Wizard Buffs
Monks & Wizards are getting all sorts of crazy buffs this patch. To see the full list, check out the official patch notes.
Demonic Essence is a new account-bound reagent that can be acquired from Elite monsters and bosses in Inferno. Major events that grant NV when completed will also have a chance to grant a Demonic Essence.
Demonic Essence drop chance will scale with Monster Power level. MP0 will grant a 15% chance to drop a Demonic Essence, all the way up to 39% at MP10.
New Recipes & Gems
The Blacksmith and Jeweler will be getting some new rare recipes – and the Jeweler will have access to a new account-bound “Marquise” cut. The new designs and plans will have a chance to drop from select bosses – provided you have 5 stacks of NV. These new craftables will all require Demonic Essences.
Crafting Recipes will be easier to acquire
The drop rate on Blacksmith plans and Jeweler designs is 4 times higher than before.
Ruby weapon damage bonus getting buffed
All Ruby cuts – including both existing and newly acquired rubies – will see a buff to the weapon damage bonus stat.
