Augmented Reality App

Blizzard announced a little easter egg of sorts that folks who purchased the Diablo III RoS CE will get to enjoy. Apparently…the art book that comes with the Collector’s Edition has a nifty little associated app, which when installed on your phone and used to view the art book, causes the images to come to life on the page. O.O The creatures come alive with animation and sound.

Blizzard’s Augmented Reality Viewer App

This would have been nice to know beforehand for those interested, as I’m sure a few of us more die-hard fans may have been more inclined to drop the additional $20 for the CE; however, you can download some sample PDFs for free that will allow you experience this. The app is free as well. Here are links to download the iOS or Android versions of the app. Once you’ve installed the app, just open it and scan the pages. The monsters next to the little app icon will come to life!

I printed the sample pages and was able to witness this effect firsthand. It’s pretty cool!

I definitely recommend giving this a go. If you’ve been thinking about getting the Reaper of Souls CE, well this little bonus just may sway you. It’s a pretty amusing feature. 🙂
