Blizzard has just announced that Diablo 3 will be released on May 15, 2012! That’s right…in just two short months, the burning hells will be unleashed upon the world of Sanctuary.
Diablo 3 can be purchased as a digital download version through Blizzard’s website – enabling players to immediately start slaying foul demons and undead once the servers go live on May 15th.
As an option, World of WarCraft players can opt-in for the WoW Annual Pass – a 12 month commitment to a WoW subscription, which includes a free digital copy of Diablo 3. As a bonus, WoW Annual Pass subscribers also get an exclusive WoW in-game mount, which is pretty darn sexy — Tyrael’s Charger.
Last but not least…if you’re into exclusive content and other fun bonuses…there’s the Diablo III: Collector’s Edition. The Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition is fairly pricey ($99) – but when you consider all that comes in the box – it’s actually a pretty sweet deal.
What’s Inside the Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition?
- Diablo 3 game DVD for Mac & PC (duh…)
- Art of Diablo 3 hardcover book
- Collector’s Edition CD soundtrack
- Behind the Scenes DVD & Blu-Ray 2 disc set
- Exclusive Diablo 3 in-game items (angel wings, a special banner & gear dyes)
- Exclusive Fetish Shaman WoW mini-pet
- Exclusive StarCraft 2 Battle.net portraits
- 4GB USB Soulstone flash drive w/ Diablo skull replica base (flash drive contains full versions of Diablo II and Diablo II LoD)
The Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition is definitely badass, and well worth the extra $40 if you’re a Diablo fanboy. It’s unknown just how limited the set is, but I imagine it’s going to be a highly sought after collectible once Blizzard runs out – mainly for the exclusive Diablo and WoW in-game content. People go nutty for special in-game items – especially exclusive WoW pets.
If you’re thinking about grabbing one of these, I’d jump on it now.
Order the Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition from Amazon.
If you’re a WoW Annual Pass subscriber…well…maybe the $99.99 for the CE isn’t so enticing…but, if you’re planning on buying Diablo 3 for $59.99, then I’d think the extra $40 for the CE would be money well spent.
