The comeback
Tempest Rush Monks disappeared for a time, and though they are now extremely viable again, only a small percentage of players have returned to this build.
We’re going to demonstrate how to make this fast moving build work for you.
I Need Spirit!
It’s tricky to use a spender constantly. You also don’t have a generator. You are going to need plenty of extra Spirit from gear and skills, and maximum cooldown reduction to keep your fun skills around all the time.
Active Skills
Tempest Rush
Like the WW Barbarian, you always keep moving and leave a trail of death. Enemies are not in your way; they are in your wake. Use Tailwind or Northern Breeze depending on your needs.
Epiphany + Inner Fire
A storm of damage. Use often and enjoy the fiery pain you deal.
Seven Sided Strike + Sustained Attack
As soon as you can you are going to remove your primary generator and put this in its place. It is your main tool to use on elites and bosses, i.e., the things that haven’t died instantly from your lawn mower of death. With enough cooldown reduction this will become spammable.
Sweeping Wind
Once cast, this should stay up a long time, since your goal is always to keep killing. Crit count will hit three instantly so Inner Storm is a valid choice.
Mantra
Most Monks go with the damage boost from Conviction, but your Mantra choice can be adjusted to what suits you.
Mystic Ally
Your Air Ally is part of your resource generation plan. If your Spirit is abundant then either take the damage boost from Fire Ally or switch this out for a nuke.
Passive Skills
Definite:
Exalted Soul is an obvious call.
Beacon of Ytar is also vital.
Optional:
You are always moving, so consider the damage boost from Momentum.
Take Guardian’s Path if you are using a 2-handed weapon (lower attack speed is recommended for this build).
Some people insist on Fleet Footed. We say One With Everything for crazy resistance.
Paragon Points
Priorities are movement speed, cooldown/crit, and resource reduction
Gear
Once again, you’re looking for Spirit and cooldown. The more Spirit from your gear the more you can adjust your skills for more damage or movement speed.
You want a socketed helmet with a nice big Diamond. Especially an Inna’s Radiance with a boost to Sweeping Wind.
Remember that slower weapons are better. The popular choice is Flow of Eternity for frequent repeated hammering with Seven Sided Strike.
How to use it all
Put your Sweeping Wind up and start spinning your weapon. Apply Epiphany liberally. Don’t stop running until everything is dead. Go to town on the tougher enemies with Seven Sided Strike. It’s really that simple.
Conclusion
You’ll get the rhythm down in the first minute. It will take a while to have the right gear to really mow down Torment, but there are few builds that can move this fast while causing this much death.
