Lots-o-Hammers Crusader Build

May 11, 2014 By D3D Guest Leave a Comment

This is a sit-back-and-spam kind of Hammerdin + Clones build that’s good once you’ve found a comfortable difficulty level to farm in, preferably complemented with 2 ranged groupies & maybe a Barb. I ran T2 rifts “comfortably” on my 700k-DPS 5mil-Toughness Crusader with a whirlwind Barb who would mop up stragglers around me, plus a DH & Frozen Orb Wiz doing DPS from range.

Joe’s Hammerdin + Clones Crusader Build

Hammers and Clones Crusader Build

You are the centre of attention here, with your main damage dealer being your Limitless Blessed Hammers. A combo of your Laws (giving attack speed boost & stun) + Bombardment w/ the Impactful rune, gives good spike damage for bosses and finishing goblins.

I have an amulet that gives 2 shadow clones on stun every 30 seconds, thus my wrath generator is Justice + Burst rune (20% chance stun). This complements my Phalanx & Falling Sword clones.

When a big group or boss mob is spotted, I summon the Phalanx bodyguards and let them run forward, then spam Justice until I proc the shadow clones (or feel free to use the Crack rune instead for wrath generation only). Then I launch into the fray w/ Falling Sword, which knocks back the group, giving me time to spam Blessed Hammers at the centre of the group (and gotta love those limitless hammers w/ 50% chance to split). Once wrath is spent, you can follow up w/ Bombardment (again, a good alternative rune is Annihilate but you miss out on the spike damage).

Your passives are all for boosting damage from gems, 2H weapon, & skills, to give you the most DPS on each wrath/cooldown cycle. You will need decent resistances to stay alive while standing still. Sometimes it will be necessary to waste a cooldown of Falling Sword to get out of there when jailed/walled standing on poison.

If you run a group similar to mine above, the Barb simply can circle the group while avoiding most damage on the ground (molten, poison, etc), while you and your clones act as a good anchor for most mobs, allowing your DPS ranged party to do their job. Alternatively, I save my clones for letter them kill of straggling weakling mobs, or harass ranged ones, so as not to waste time chasing them down.

Hope you have fun running this, and impressing your group with the visual spam!

-Joe
