Quote from Zarhym
You’re called to action once again, to use your wits and strength, to compete for the ultimate prize. Your weapons? They seem to be but a musty tome and quill, but know that their power is far stronger than the armies of the Scourge, far craftier than the zerg Swarm, and far mightier than any demon from the Burning Hells. Ready your tools, scribe, and prepare for combat with the inky beast called fiction!
Enter a short story for the chance to win a free trip to Blizzard’s headquarters in southern California! This contest is open to entrants from around the world and will be judged by Blizzard’s very own writers and masters of lore. For more information, head to the contest page:

This competition is open to writers and hobbyists of all skill levels. All that’s needed is a burning passion for any one of the games in the Blizzard universe; be it World of Warcraft, Starcraft or Diablo, and a desire to write a fictional story that takes place in one of those worlds. Stories need to be written in English, and no less than 2,500 words, but no more than 7,500 words. The Blizz staff will no doubt be reading tons of these stories, so keep it under 7,500 words so as to not cause their retinas to blow out.
The Grand Prize Winner will receive a meet, eat and greet (no, they won’t be eating the staff, just eating with them) with the Blizzard staff at their headquarters in Irvine, CA. The big winner will also receive their choice of either a Diablo III Overthrown Barbarian Diorama (/drool) or a Frostmourne Sword.
How freakin’ cool is that..?! As if the trip to the Blizz HQ wasn’t cool enough, they’re also throwing in the ultimate souvenir. ๐
Now Arthas’ sword is cool and all, but man… the artwork and detail on the Diablo 3 Barbarian statue is just amazing. It’s a tough call, but I think I’d have to go with the Diablo piece.
There will also be prize packages awarded to 7 runner-ups. While not nearly as uber as the grand prize, they’re still pretty awesome.
The runner-up prize packs will consist of the following books, all signed by Chris Metzen, the cover artists, and Blizzard’s staff of writers…
- Diablo Archive
- Warcraft Archive
- The Starcraft Archive: An Anthology
- Warcraft: War of the Ancients Archive
So what are you waiting for… time to put on your creative thinking cap and get busy with some fan fiction.
